Frequently Asked Questions....

Who is J Liz Jewelry & More?
I am just one person who makes and sells all of these items. I also take all of the photographs and upload them, and I am the sole person who has been putting this website together. I started making jewelry years ago. I finally decided to show a few people after I had quite a few things made and they loved my work. They said I should be selling my work, so I sold my work at the local farmer's market as well as numerous places in the county I live in. Many times during the summer, tourists and locals alike would ask if I had a website. For the last six years that answer was no, and now finally, it is YES!!!!
On the more personal side, I am a mother of two sons. One is a Captain in the US Army and another is a supervisor at a publishing company. I have two granddaughters and two grandsons.

Do you have a "brick and mortar" store?
Many have also asked me if I have a store (brick and mortar), and again, no I don't. Quite a few people said I should, but then I'd have to raise my prices too much.

Where are you located?
I am in North Idaho, less than 100 miles from the border of Canada. Because my studio is still located in my home, it is inadvisable to give an exact location or address.

Is your business registered with the state of Idaho?
Yes. I have a seller's permit with the state of Idaho and pay taxes. I also report all of my income and keep meticulous records of exactly which items I have sold. By keeping record of each item I sell, I can know more of what is popular with my customers, so I can make items that may be similar. It also helps you as a customer, because I will be able to help you if you lose the item, if it needs repair, or if you'd like a matching set, etc.

Do you charge sales tax?
Idaho residents have to pay 6%, but other states currently do not have to.

Do you have classes?
Not yet, but I sure hope to! I plan to do step-by-step using photos and diagrams on the website. Someday hopefully video too! Locally I am hoping to have classes at the local college some time in the future, when I will also be able to offer working with silver in a kiln.

How do you ship your packages?
I have decided to use the US Postal system. They always seem to charge the least and they are much closer to my home than Fed Ex or UPS.

How much do you charge for shipping?
The shipping cost will be the actual cost, not some outrageously inflated price that I have seen so many times. I am hoping to use a flat rate box so the shipping charge is known/predictable. I am also planning on having free shipping over a certain purchased amount.

Can I return my purchase?
If you return it in perfect condition within two weeks from the date it was shipped, yes. If you throw it into an envelope or don't pack it to protect it inside of a box, you probably won't get your money back because they will be damaged. Those "bubble bag" envelopes do NOT protect jewelry from damage, so please don't use them to send items back.

Can I exchange my purchase for another item?
Yes, as long as the items are returned in perfect condition. Send the item well-packed in a box to ensure its condition is maintained. When you return the item, let me know which item(s) you want me to send you by telling me the product's SKU#. If the price difference costs more, all you will have to do is pay the difference, adding in the shipping cost. If the cost is less, then you will get the difference of the jewelry cost back. Shipping will still need to be paid.

Do you repair your items?
Yes. If for some reason the item is defective, I will repair it for free. I try to take every precaution to make each item well-made so they last for many years. I use "wire guards" before the clasps, so the threads or wire is well-protected, and I go back through the beads several times, knotting them along the way to give them even more strength and durability. That said, wear and tear over time could occur, and for that, the repair will be free too. A few designs and/or materials may be a little more delicate, in which case care and precautions will be mentioned here on the website as well as being included with your purchase.

Abuse is not covered.
Case in point: A pre-teen bought a necklace and was impatient with the clasp, so he just yanked it off and broke it. I fixed it and returned it to him. Then he got it all gunked up in candy and dirt, and despite my using a high-tensile strength specialty thread, he not only broke the threads, but also broke crystals and components, making the necklace too short if made with the remaining parts. I had to take it apart and clean all of the sticky gooey stuff and dirt off of it, dry it thoroughly, and then I used wire to restring it. I used over $30. worth of material on those repairs and several hours. To make matters worse, I sold the necklace to him for only $15. because it was all he had, and he really wanted it. So I lost Big Time on that deal.

If you accidently break it, I will probably repair it for free the first time.

Can you change the Clasp, Ear wires, or Length for me?
For this service, your best bet is to ***contact me*** so we don't end up in a communications/ order mess of confusion. The reasons below are reasons why.

Yes. The cost depends on a few things. It is free if it is a **fast, easy fix*** and you tell me before I ship it or at the time of purchase in the "NOTE TO SELLER" box when you check out....or if in person, when you are buying the item. "Fast and easy", is where all I have to do is open the rings to change a clasp or ear wire, and for length, when it is just a matter of taking links out of a chain.

--When I have to totally restring or totally remake the item, it would be best to contact me when you see the item you like and tell me you'd like it shorter or longer. Then I can make one the length you want it, rather than return it and have to pay another full amount to have it remade. When it comes to length, your best bet is to either call, text or email me about the item you're interested in to find out about it. It is also possible that I no longer have enough of the exact same parts to make a new item or set to length, which is another reason to ask.

Be sure to tell me the product SKU# so we both know which item you are interested in, That way I can look at it and let you know.

All of the new necklaces and bracelets will have split rings on the ends so changing the clasp will be a "fast and easy" free fix. The split ring is also a great upgrade, because not only does it give you versatility to change clasps, but it also provides a very secure connection. Regular jump rings can open up, causing the jewelry to fall off. ---- That said, if I find any of my jewelry with a regular jump ring, I'm going to change it to the more secure spit ring. (Split rings are the same kind of device used for key rings, except these are a lot smaller.)

Some time in the future, I will try to add "Free Fast Clasp Change" and / or "Free Fast Length change" to all of the jewelry that this would apply to. For clarity, I may also note each item that would need to be restrung / remade in order to shorten or lengthen, and that it would not be free, but could possibly be ordered to your length desired. The price would either be the same as the one pictured or, if it is lengthened by a significant amount, I would let you know what the difference in cost would be.

The metals I use for earrings are Sterling Silver, Titanium, Niobium, and Argentium Silver.  I am allergic to Nickel, and I react fairly quick to this metal, so I can not use it. Nor will I sell it. This is the number one reason why people have problems with their earrings. Jewelry-Grade Surgical Steel has nickel in it, and sometimes the plated metals have Nickel.  Although I will not use plated ear wires, there may be miscellaneous small parts of items that might be plated metal. No matter what, there will be no Nickel. Another metal I will not offer is Rhodium. That too has nickel in it. As usual, like you have probably heard countless times, ALWAYS clean/sanitize your earrings first before putting them on. Especially if they are brand new. The J Liz Jewelry & More Parts Page goes into much greater depth about each of these metals. I can also change the earrings over to Sterling Silver post earrings, or from post earrings to the regular French hook ear wires. All you need to do is let me know when you order them. This is a free service!
